DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Kevin Heng (Munich Center for Geoastronomy\, LMU)\,
Yan Lavallée (Munich Center for Geoastronomy\, LMU)\n\nEvent details\nFro
m the formation of planets and planetary evolution\, to the forces that sh
ape worlds near and far\, Geoastronomy explores the intersections where d
isciplines - and worlds - collide. Join us for the official inauguration o
f the Munich Center for Geoastronomy - a 2-day event dedicated to bridgin
g the connections between Earth and the cosmos under the theme “When Wor
lds Collide”. \nProgramme\nThe event features a series of public keynot
e talks by world-renowned international scientists/authors and scientific
talks by local experts from across geosciences\, planetary sciences\, and
astrophysics. Through accessible presentations and lively discussions\, o
ur speakers will share insights into some of the most profound questions a
nd cutting edge developments in modern earth and space sciences. \nKeynot
e Talks: \n\nTo See a World in a Point of Light: The Past\, Present\, and
Future of Exoplanet Detection\n\n\n\nProf. Joshua Winn (Princeton\, USA)\
n\n\n\nVolcanic Outgassing Across Time and Space\n\n\n\nProf. Marie Edmond
 s (Cambridge\, UK)\n\n\n\nSearching for Alien Earths\n\n\n\nProf. Lisa Kal
tenegger (Carl Sagan Institute\, USA)\n\n\n\nThe First Minerals and Rocks
of the Solar System\n\n\n\nProf. Marc Chaussidon (IPGP\, France)\n\n\n\nBr
idging Stars to Planets: Geoastronomy with Brown Dwarfs\n\n\n\nProf. Adam
Burgasser (UC San Diego\, USA)\n\n\nShort Scientific Talks: \n\nPhotosynt
hesis as an Engineering Problem\n\n\n\nProf. Stephen Mojzsis (Bavarian Geo
institute\, Bayreuth)\n\n\n\nPlanetary surface constraints on Volcanic deg
assing\n\n\n\nDist. Prof. Donald Dingwell (LMU\, Munich and Hangzhou Inter
national Innovation Institute)\n\n\n\nThe HECATE space mission: a German H
elium Geocorona and Atmosphere Exploration Satellite\n\n\n\nDr. Frank Grup

Landscapes of other worlds: Towards mapping exoplanet atmospheres\n\n\n\nC
yril Gapp (LMU\, Munich)\n\n\nAudience\nThis event is open to everyone\,
and from all disciplines and faculties - whether you are a student\, scien
tist\, educator\, administrator\, someone passionate about science or simp
ly curious about the cosmos and our place within it. This event offers a u
nique opportunity - not just to engage with and learn from ideas and disco
veries\, but also to network with the people shaping some of the most exci
ting frontiers in science today. \nWe warmly welcome you to join us for t
his celebration of worlds - from Earth to Exoplanets! \nRegistration (now
closed)\nAttendance to this event is free. However\, registration is req
uired. \nAcknowledgement\nWe gratefully acknowledge the Origins Excellence
Cluster as a co-organizer of this event and thank them for their financia
 l support.\n--------------------------------------------------------------
