QIP Mentoring Sessions

Description

QIP 2021 is offering a mentoring program aimed to provide an opportunity for students/postdocs to interact with more experienced researchers (such opportunities have arguably been especially rare during the last year).

Specifically, we will have virtual meetings with experienced researchers and groups consisting of a limited number of students/postdocs. These meetings are intended to give an opportunity to get to know and discuss with a successful senior colleague, ask any question related to making a living in quantum information science, and more generally about our scientific field.

We have more than 50 volunteers willing to act as mentors. Nevertheless, we expect spots to be limited (due to the large number of students/postdocs participating). We will therefore assign spots randomly. Please keep in mind that there will be other opportunities to interact with conference attendees even if you are not among the chosen few: We encourage you to actively take part in the offered social program.

Participation in the QIP mentoring program requires a zoom-account email address, which needs to be entered below. We will also ask you for your preferences regarding whom you'd like to talk to, but won't be able to ensure that you meet this particular mentor. When submitting your preferences, please select a handful of mentors at least. This will also increase your odds of getting a spot.

If you get a spot, you are kindly asked to be present at the specified time (further instructions will be sent via email) irrespective of which mentor you were assigned to. At the least, you will have an interesting conversation, and learn something new about research and life in quantum science and technology.

Good luck and have fun!
